The Donuts (donuts) are the famous American fried donuts, the soft and delicious sweets covered with colorful glazes. Theseamerican donuts, prepared with a leavened dough, they are fried in oil and then covered with chocolate and sugars or very sweet glazes with shocking colors. They are famous all over the world and a symbol of junk food, made famous by the cartoon of the Simpsons, in particular by the character of Homer who literally drooled at the sight of these mythical donuts;)
After having tasted the original donuts in New York, I went into obsession and promised myself to try to make them at home as soon as I had a reliable recipe in my hands.
Well, the moment has arrived and I am really very satisfied with the result, I got some soft, fragrant and delicious donuts that drove my daughter Elisa and my husband crazy: P

Place the flour in a large bowl and put the sugar, the crumbled brewer's yeast, the milk and the vanilla essence in the center.
Begin to knead from the center by gradually absorbing all the flour then subsequently add the egg. Once incorporated into the dough, add the softened butter a little at a time.
Continue to knead until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous and comes off the sides of the bowl.

Once you have formed a smooth and homogeneous dough, move it to a bowl brushed with a little melted butter and cover with cling film.
Let it rise for at least 2 hours, inside the oven off but with the light on.

Then take the dough and roll it out, with a rolling pin, on a floured work surface.
With a pasta bowl with a diameter of 8 cm, make the circles that you will pierce in the center with another pasta bowl of 3 cm.

Now transfer the donuts into a dripping pan on separate squares of parchment paper of about 10 cm.
Let it rise for at least 40 minutes, always inside the oven off but with the light on.

Then heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the donuts, with parchment paper, one at a time and on both sides.

As they are ready, place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Meanwhile, prepare the icing by combining the milk with the sugar and dividing it into two bowls.
Immerse the donuts in one of the two, wetting them only on one side.

Decorate the same donuts by moving them now to a small bowl with the sugars.

In the other bowl set aside, add food coloring instead.
Glaze and decorate other donuts in the same way.

Finally, make the chocolate version by glazing them in melted dark chocolate with the addition of a little butter.

Once your donuts have dried, they are ready to be enjoyed.
